ReStore named U.S. Chamber Honoree

The Habitat ReStore Quad Cities has been designated a Free Enterprise Honoree by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. On March 1st, the U.S. Chamber announced 75 Blue Ribbon Small Business Award® winners of 2010. In addition to the Blue Ribbon businesses, 25 small businesses, including the Quad Citis ReStore, were named Free Enterprise Honorees for their strong business practices and contributions to the economy.

"Our judges’ panel was impressed with your company’s accomplishments....we are proud to recognize your business’ success story." wrote Margaret Shepard of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

New St. Ambrose students help at ReStore during Urban Plunge

	Eleven St Ambrose freshmen and an advisor spent part of their first day at college helping complete some ReStore projects! Part of the group made the banner that was carried in the Rock Island Labor Day Parade Some revamped the lighting display area Others painted new signage on the front of the building

Quad Cities ReStore has diverted 4 million pounds!

AN ELEPHANT EACH DAY FOR A YEAR....

..would add up to 4 million pounds - the amount of building products diverted from landfills by the Quad Cities ReStore since opening in December 2002!

Members of the ReStore paid and volunteer staff teamed up on Tuesday April 28th to clean up the neighborhood.	CLICK HERE to learn how you can Adopt a Quad Cities neighborhood to care for.
ReStore has adopted the "block" boardered by Kimberly Rd., Mississippi Ave, 39th St. and Eastern Ave. as part of Scott County Waste Commission's "i live here QC" Adopt-an area Program. More than 10 bags of waste, a child's pool and an unmailed letter were collected.

ReStore makes a splash at July 4th parade

ReStore makes a "splash" in July 4th Parade!	ALL units in the Bettendorf July4th parade were "splashing" this year but spirits were high as volunteers, partner families and staff marched through raindrops to represent the ReStore. This is the first time the ReStore has appeared in the Bettendorf Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade. Watch for us in the Rock Island Labor Day Parade at the end of the summer!

ReStore has joined the "Cookie wrapper brigade". Bring us your clean empty cookie wrappers to keep them out of the landfill and raise money for the work of Habitat for Humanity.

Cookie wrappers are sent away and used to make many colorful, useful items (see examples at the ReStore) and $.02 per wrapper is donated to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore!
